A British garrison from 1784 to 1869, now the city’s cultural heart: free summer programming in Officers’ Square, guided heritage walking tours in July, and the Garrison Night Market on Thursday evenings. Honest note: the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony has been suspended since 2024 (a fire destroyed the equipment), new heritage programming is planned for 2027.
